The US Government
Explore the structure of the United States government and find the people who represent you.
Executive Branch
The Executive Branch is responsible for implementing and enforcing the laws written by Congress. While the President is the head of this branch, it also includes the Vice President, the Cabinet, and millions of federal employees working in various agencies and departments.
Legislative Branch
Established by Article I of the Constitution, the Legislative Branch consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate, which together form the United States Congress. Congress has the sole authority to enact legislation, declare war, and confirm or reject many Presidential appointments.
Judicial Branch
The Judicial Branch interprets the meaning of laws, applies laws to individual cases, and decides if laws violate the Constitution. Unlike the Legislative and Executive branches, federal judges are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate for life.
